The Los Angeles Lakers have announced that they’ve waived guard Troy Daniels. The move gives the team an open roster spot that they can utilize in the future.
Daniels played sparingly for the Lakers but saw action in 41 games so far this season. The 28-year-old averaged 4.2 points per game for Los Angeles this season and had previously established himself as a rotation player on several NBA squads.
Daniels will hit waivers and be free to sign with any other team when he clears. He’ll retain postseason eligibility for any team eager to bring him aboard given that he was released ahead of the March 1 deadline.
The Lakers aren’t expected to make a corresponding move immediately but do have plans to work out Dion Waiters, as we wrote about last week.
