The New York Knicks are coming off their best season in nearly 10 years, finishing fourth in the Eastern Conference, but losing to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs.
With a team finally capable of competing, the Knicks are reportedly looking to make a huge splash this offseason.
According to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, the Knicks are looking to acquire a superstar this offseason, and two names that have come up are Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal.
Lillard and Beal are both locked into long-term deals with their respective teams, so the Knicks would have to make a trade. Winfield reports that the Knicks are willing to part with second-year forward RJ Barrett to get a potential deal done.
The Knicks are also “monitoring” a trio of young guards in Collin Sexton, Terry Rozier and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, according to Winfield.
Lillard is coming off his fourth first-round playoff exit in five years, and Beal has never progressed past the second round with the Washington Wizards, making them both excellent candidates for potential trades this offseason.
Barrett is coming off a much improves sophomore season that saw him average 17.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, which could draw the eye of a potential trade partner.
