Until recently, Kevin Love was known as one of the better power forwards in the league, stretching the floor with his 3-point shooting ability and pulling down a ton of rebounds. However, he hasn’t played on a winning team in quite some time and many people forget what he was able to do for a playoff team in the past.
In fact, Love recently told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports that he feels he could take a contending team to the next level.
“When I am available and playing at a high level, I feel like I could be that guy that pushes the team really over the edge, puts them into contention.”
While his career has gotten somewhat de-railed with injuries and playing on a rebuilding Cleveland team, Love has a good point. Playing alongside LeBron James earlier in his career, he was a solid rebounder and scorer as a third option on a championship-caliber team.
This season on the Cavs, Love has averaged 11.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest in what is shaping up to be the worst year of his career. Perhaps this offseason, Cleveland will find a trade partner who could take on Love in their effort to win games.
