The Memphis Grizzlies won’t get a chance to see Justise Winslow in action when the league restarts later this month. The team revealed that the swingman trade deadline acquisition will miss the games with a hip injury.
Winslow fell during an intra-squad scrimmage and won’t get the opportunity to strut his stuff for his new team. Winslow arrived in Miami in the Andre Iguodala trade but didn’t play prior to the shutdown on account of a back injury.
Winslow was close to making his return from the back injury in March prior to the suspension of the season.
In just 11 games for the Heat prior to the trade deadline, Winslow averaged 11.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. His addition fortified Memphis’ already intriguing young core.
Winslow has a team option on the final year of his contract next season worth $13M.
With Winslow now out of the fold for Memphis, Josh Jackson could step into a larger role during the extended campaign. The No. 4 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft averaged 10.4 points per game in 18 contests for the Grizzlies before the hiatus.
