Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons Ruled Out for 2021 NBA All-Star Game Due to Potential COVID-19 Exposure
Philadelphia 76ers stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons have been ruled out for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This decision comes as a result of Embiid and Simmons coming into contact with their personal barber, who tested positive for the Coronavirus.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, both Embiid and Simmons boarded their own private jets and no other All-Star participants have come into contact with either of them.
According to Wojnarowski, the league has no plans to replace Embiid or Simmons in the All-Star Game on such short notice. However, New Orleans Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson will start in place of Embiid for Team Durant.
