The Brooklyn Nets have announced that guard Joe Harris has left the bubble to attend to a non-medical personal matter. The 29-year-old will be subject to standard quarantine protocols upon his return.
It’s unclear what exactly Harris has left the bubble for or whether the matter will qualify as an excused or unexcused absence. The NBA has a predetermined list of excusable absences, which come with shorter quarantine periods.
The loss of Harris is the latest in a long line of blows for the Nets. The short-handed squad did an admirable job defending their No. 7 seed in the bubble but are in a two-game hole against the Toronto Raptors in Round 1.
Harris, an unrestricted free agent next offseason, averaged 14.5 points per game for the Nets this season and was one of the last few remaining primary offensive options for Brooklyn this postseason.
