One of the best teams in the entire NBA, the Utah Jazz got even better this summer with the addition of forward Rudy Gay. A savvy veteran, he’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact this season as a 6-foot-8 wing.
However, the Jazz will likely have to wait a few weeks to begin to benefit from Gay’s production.
As first reported by Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune, Gay will miss the preseason and start of the regular season with a left heel injury. Gay had surgery performed on his left heel immediately following the conclusion of last season and is still working his way back from that procedure.
Last season with the Spurs, Gay averaged 11.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game off the bench. A quality 3-point shooter, he converted on 38.1% of his 4.4 attempts from deep per game.
Upon his return, Gay should be one of the most important pieces of the Utah roster.
