James Harden still hasn’t reported to training camp or personal workouts, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN on Sunday. However, the Rockets have been told that he will be back and report ‘soon’.
Rockets head coach Stephen Silas isn’t quite sure of when his superstar player will return to Houston and participate in training camp, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
“There is no timetable, as far as I know… It is a setback. You want your best player to be here.”
This is Silas’ first season as head coach of the Houston Rockets. After the team traded away Russell Westbrook late last week, it’s safe to say it hasn’t been the easiest transition into his new role.
When Harden does return to Houston to begin workouts and prepare for the upcoming season, he will have to pass COVID-19 protocol. While there has been quite a bit of drama this offseason around whether Harden wants to continue playing for the Rockets or be traded, step one is getting him back into his home market.
