The big news in the New York/New Jersey area today isn’t about the Knicks’ somewhat surprising road win in The Swamp last night, it is instead the speculation as to why Jason Kidd didn’t play in the game. Officially, a migraine kept him out of action, but others aren’t so sure.
Lang touched on this during his version of The Post Up, and now we take a look at a story in the NY Post which claims that Kidd sat out because he was on strike:
Jason Kidd was “on strike” last night, several team sources claimed. He essentially called in sick, perhaps seeking to force a trade from the Nets or gain a contract extension.
“Everyone is going to have to sit down and figure out where we go from here … He’s on strike.” one source claimed.
What’s with NY-area point guards refusing to show up for work?
Yahoo! Sports also picked up on these claims, and as we had mentioned a little while back in this space, Kidd is reportedly desperate to team up with LeBron James in Cleveland.
Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire, and right now it looks as if the Nets could be preparing to say goodbye to the best player in their franchise’s history.
