Erik Spoelstra: ‘You Simply Cannot Put A Modern-Day Analytic To Jimmy Butler’s Will To Win’
Coming off of a trip to the 2020 NBA Finals, Jimmy Butler is having a great season in limited action. Although he’s missed quite a few games, Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra told Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press that Butler’s will to win is something you can’t articulate with a statistic.
“You simply cannot put a modern-day analytic to Jimmy’s will to win. He was not going to let us lose, no matter what it took.”
Butler hadn’t played since January 9 due to a case of COVID-19 and has been working his way back to full health and conditioning. While this was only his seventh game of the season, it perhaps has been his best thus far.
Butler produced 30 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds in 30 minutes of play against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. There’s something about Jimmy Butler and his impact on the game. Even outside of the box score, he’s a winner and excellent motivator on the court.
