According to the New York Post, an ankle specialist discovered more damage to his surgically repaired right ankle that requires minor surgery to repair. The issue was found Thursday after a practice session Rose participated. Rose was reportedly days away from his return after undergoing surgery to remove a bone spur in December. There is no timetable for the former MVPs return.
“He looked good (in practice),” Randle told the NY Post on Thursday. “We missed him a lot, obviously, he’s a great player, brings a lot to this team that goes unnoticed. It will be great to have him back. He’s going to help us a lot moving forward.”
The surgery could knock him out of playing the remaining 23 games on the Knicks’ schedule. The tough injury news comes on the heels of Kemba Walker and the Knicks agreeing to shut it down for the season. The Post was told that Walker is doubtful to change his mind.
The Knicks (25-34) are set to play the Heat (38-21) on the road this Friday.
