The Washington Wizards will retain Davis Bertans after his breakout 2019-20 season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Bertans will earn $80 million over the course of five seasons.
Bertans has long been touted as one of the top free agents on the market this offseason and the Wizards made it a priority to bring him back into the fold next season.
After arriving in Washington as part of a salary dump so that the San Antonio Spurs could make moves last offseason, Bertans exploded in an enhanced role.
Bertans averaged 15.4 points per game for the Wizards, shooting a staggering .424 on 8.7 three-point attempts per game.
The 28-year-old opted out of participating in the bubble with the ninth-seeded Wizards in order to focus on working out and remaining healthy ahead of this free agent period.
