Cole Anthony was the No. 15 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. Although a rookie, he was immediately thrown into a key role on the team, starting 17 of his first 25 NBA games.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Anthony has a non-displaced fracture of his right first rib and will not return before the All-Star break. This is quite the blow for Orlando, as they’ve had perhaps the most injuries of any team this season.
With how thin the Magic will now be at point guard, decisions will need to be made on how they proceed. If they are still looking to make a playoff push, Orlando may need to make a splash on the trade market to bolster their guard rotation.
Prior to this injury, Anthony averaged 11.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
