Detroit Pistons big man Christian Wood has tested positive for COVID-19, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Wood becomes the third known NBA player to be diagnosed with the virus.
Wood played against Rudy Gobert and the Utah Jazz last week and there’s no way to determine if one gave it to the other or, technically, if the two positive results are even related.
The news comes on the third day of the NBA’s hiatus as the league, and in fact the world, seek to manage the coronavirus pandemic.
Charania reports that Wood has thus far shown no symptoms and is doing well.
The 24-year-old is in the midst of a breakout campaign with the Pistons and has flourished ever since the team sent starting five Andre Drummond to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the trade deadline.
Wood averaged 26.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game across five March contests and will look to pick up where he left off whenever play resumes.
