Key Offseason Decisions

  • Do Caleb Martin and Jalen McDaniels have enough upside to retain their non-guaranteed deals? It would seem the answer is yes, making it likely both stays.
  • Should the Hornets extend a qualifying offer to Dwayne Bacon? Bacon is an interesting case. Extending him a qualifying offer would make him a restricted free agent, but would cost the Hornets about $1.2M in cap space.

Projected Team Salary

$88,807,536

The Hornets have almost completed their purge of unfavorable contracts. Nicolas Batum will pick up his player option, but that’s the final bad contract on Charlotte’s books. Dwayne Bacon is an interesting pivot point. His struggles this season make it likely the Hornets will simply move on. Look for Caleb Martin and Jalen McDaniels to be back, as both have good upside. Devonte’ Graham’s breakout season makes it a no-brainer he’ll be fully guaranteed as well. (@KeithSmithNBA)
