After being selected by the Denver Nuggets with the third overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, Carmelo Anthony became a future Hall of Famer. He ended up playing eight seasons in Denver, posting averages of 24.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 45.9 percent from the floor.
From there, he was traded to the New York Knicks, in what was a huge deal at the time.
Anthony recently joined All The Smoke, discussing his time with the Nuggets. He talked about how he actually never wanted to leave Denver.
“Contrary to what anybody an every believes, I never wanted to leave Denver. I never told people that. But I never wanted to leave Denver. But it’s like they put my back against the wall,” said Anthony.
Now at age 37, Anthony is set to join the Los Angeles Lakers who will be his sixth NBA team. While his role is no longer what it once was in the League, he’s still a well-respected scorer who can raise the ceiling of a contender.
