Carmelo Anthony has been getting buckets in the NBA for over 15 years now. While he’s been one of the most crafty offensive players in the NBA for a good portion of his career, he reached a major milestone on Monday night.
Against the Atlanta Hawks, Anthony passed Elvin Hayes and is now in the top-ten in NBA history when it comes to total points. With 27,318 career points, he will look to continue to climb the ladder throughout the final years of his career. As of now, LeBron James is the only active player who has more career points.
On this special night, Anthony was shown love by his teammates postgame as he gave his thoughts on the accomplishment.
“A couple years ago I ain’t think I was gonna be in this moment. I was out the league for whatever reason…I’m back. I persevered. I stayed strong I stayed true to myself & now I’m here in the Top 10.”
In his long, decorated career, Anthony has averages of 23.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting .447 from the field. One of the most pure scorers in the league, he continues to climb the all-time NBA scoring list.
Next up on Anthony’s list to pass is Moses Malone, who is just 91 points ahead of him with the ninth-most points in NBA history.
