The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a two-year deal with forward Bobby Portis, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Portis will join the contender after his 2020-21 team option was declined by the New York Knicks.
Portis’ new pact will have a player option in the second year. The Athletic’s David Aldridge adds that the money is likely to come in at around $8 million.
While it represents a significant pay cut from what he could have earned with the Knicks, he’s in a better situation in terms of team success. Portis averaged 10.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in 2019-20, in just over 21 minutes of action.
The addition of Portis to Milwaukee’s frontcourt will fill some of the vacancies created by the departures of Robin Lopez and Ersan Ilyasova.
