The New Orleans Pelicans will return home to Smoothie King Center with a 1-1 series tie against the Phoenix Suns after a 124-114 win in game 2. Brandon Ingram led all scorers with 37 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists, becoming the third Pelican in franchise history to do it.
Ingram told reporters that everything was flowing, and the whole team felt connected on the floor.
“Everything was flowing,” Ingram said per ESPN. “Everybody was effective on the floor, all five. All five made something happen, whether it was offensively or defensively. We were really connected today.”
Ingram finished 13-21 shooting from the field and 3-3 from three-point range. In the third quarter, Ingram tweaked his ankle and continued to play. At some points of the game, you can see him grimacing while continuing to lead the Pelicans in scoring.
Pelicans Coach Willie Green praised the Ingram, calling his performance one of his best and how proud he was of Ingram.
“This is one of his best and it was on a big stage. I’m proud of that young man. He works his tail off, he’s a great teammate, high character, high IQ, and he put it on display tonight.”
The Pelicans team shot 57 percent from the three-point range. CJ McCollum shot 6-10 from three and assisted Ingram with 23 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.
The Pelicans look to take a 2-1 series lead against the No. 1 Suns in Game 3 on Friday.
