Anthony Davis was one of the key reasons the Los Angeles Lakers won their recent NBA title. However, prior to that championship, he spent his first seven NBA seasons in New Orleans playing for the Pelicans.
While the end of that chapter got fairly rocky, he always had great things to say about the organization.
Davis recently opened up about his final season as a member of the Pelicans in an interview with Preston Ellis of The Bird Writes, saying that he had lost his desire to play the game.
“I didn’t want to go to practice, I didn’t want to play. There was just a lot going on because I didn’t have that joy with me anymore.”
For a lot of guys around the League, the passion and desire to play and be great are what drives them. For a guy like Davis, as talented as he is, the peak of what he is able to accomplish would never be possible without this fire to succeed. It seems that on the Lakers, he’s enjoying playing once again.
