According to Jonathan Abrams of the New York Times, 17-year veteran Andre Iguodala is planning to end his career with the Golden State Warriors.
Five days after the Heat declined to pick up his $15 million team option, Iguodala will sign a minimum salary contract with Golden State, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
The 2015 NBA Finals MVP spent six seasons with the Warriors and was a major focal point during their three-year run of dominance, winning championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
“The relationship with the fans, the relationship with the Bay, the opportunity to end it here, was just something special,” Iguodala told the New York Times.
Iguodala showed flashes of his Bay area years as a defensive anchor for the Heat’s 2020 championship matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers in the Orlando bubble.
Praised as a leader and glue player, Iguodala averaged 4.4 points, 3.5 boards and 2.3 assists per game (63 games) last season.
