Andre Drummond was shocked to be traded to Cleveland, and reacted angrily Thursday to the Pistons’ lack of “loyalty.”
Detroit shipped their longest-tenured player to the Cavs in exchange for Brandon Knight, John Henson and a second-round draft pick.
Drummond, 26, told reporters last night he was unfazed by the swirling rumors.
Per MLive.com:
“It’s all that matters,” Drummond said. “I think we all came to the realization that we can’t control what happens. At the end of the day, we have to keep putting this jersey on until that time comes or it comes. So we just have to keep playing to the best of our abilities, play hard and whatever happens, happens.”
In the Pistons’ 116-108 victory over the Phoenix Suns, Drummond scored 31 points and was one rebound away from having his 10th 20-20 game of the season.
“I mean, I’ve been hearing that for the past four years,’ Drummond said of trade talk. “So it doesn’t faze me. But you know, I saw it did for other guys in the locker room, but for me just keep playing until whatever happens, happens.”
Drummond has a $28 million player option for next season.
“You would know if I changed my mind,” Drummond said when asked if he wanted to move on.
