UPDATE (Nov. 7): According to ESPN‘s Marc Stein, the Pelicans are open to re-signing Lance Stephenson when he recovers from injury and will participate in his rehab:
The Pelicans, sources say, will participate fully in Lance Stephenson's injury rehab and told him they're open to re-signing him once healed

New Orleans didn't want to waive Lance, sources said, but saw no alternative with 11 healthy players and no sure path to an injury exception

Since Jrue Holiday is away from the team for personal reasons, not outright injury, New Orleans' case for a hardship waiver is not automatic

The Pelicans, I'm told, have told Lance Stephenson they will participate in his injury rehab in New Orleans or wherever he wishes to do it.

Original Story: Lance Stephenson will undergo surgery on his injured groin and the Pelicans have responded by letting go of Stephenson and signing free agent guard Archie Goodwin, according to a report from ESPN.

Stephenson signed a one-year, incentive based deal with New Orleans and had been averaging 9.7 points, 4.8 assists and 3.3 boards in 27 minutes for the 0-6 Pels. Goodwin, who is still just 22-years-old, was cut by the Suns in the preseason.
