Not long after the Los Angeles Lakers waived Joel Ayayi, the Washington Wizards claimed him off waivers according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. He is reportedly on a two-way deal.

Ayayi was one of the two players (Austin Reaves being the other) that signed two-way deals with the Los Angeles Lakers by foregoing the NBA Draft. He spent three seasons at Gonzaga with averages of 12 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists during his junior year. One major plus for the Wizards is Ayayi’s familiarity with other players on the roster, such as former teammates Corey Kispert and Rui Hachimura.
Washington will start their season on the road against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.
