After drafting Nico Mannion in Wednesday’s draft, the Warriors looked stacked at point guard. Just days later, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Bowman will be waived by Golden State and will become a free agent.
Bowman will be an interesting player on the free agent market. While he came into the 2019-20 season as an undrafted free agent, he made a name for himself in the down year the Warriors had.
Bowman is just 23 years old and averaged 7.4 points, 2.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game in his rookie season.
If there are any teams out there looking for a cheap, young guard that they can work to develop and take a chance on, Bowman would be an intriguing option.
For the Warriors, this gives them an extra roster spot to work with in free agency, as their focus will shift towards contention once again.
