Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Juancho Hernangomez will play for Spain’s men’s national basketball team in the Tokyo Olympics after a left shoulder injury kept him from playing multiple exhibition matchups.
Expectations must be tempered for his play however, as Hernangomez will need significant recovery time for the injury, which he sustained on July 8 while playing against France.
This past season, Hernangomez averaged 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds in 17.3 minutes for the Timberwolves.
A member of their senior national team since 2017, Juancho will once again join Marc Gasol, Paul Gasol and Ricky Rubio in the race for Olympic Gold.
