Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Oklahoma City Thunder have fully guaranteed second-year forward Luguentz Dort’s contract through the 202-23 season. Dort, who emerged as a defensive standout last season, has averaged of 12.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game this season while starting all 37 games he’s played.
21-years-old, the Montreal native went undrafted out of Arizona State in 2019 after playing just one season with the Sun Devils.
However, the 2018-19 Pac-12 Rookie of the Year (and 2018-19 Pac-12 All-Defensive Team selection) would impress enough to sign a two-way contract with the Thunder that he parlayed into a four-year, $5.4 million deal last June.
In what could be considered a related move, Oklahoma City traded away veteran wing Trevor Ariza on Wednesday, acquiring center Meyers Leonard — who is expected to be waived — in return.
