Deandre Ayton is set to be a restricted free agent on July 1 after the Suns reportedly offered him a qualifying offer, according to Keith Smith of Protrac.
The Phoenix Suns have officially tendered a $16.4M qualifying offer to make Deandre Ayton a restricted free agent on July 1, a league source tells @spotrac.

Ayton is looking for an max extension that’s similar to what Trae Young received last summer. Ayton’s team and Phoenix were unable to come to terms last year, leaving Ayton “disappointed” that they couldn’t strike a deal. Since then, the Phoenix hasn’t made him available in trade talks, and GM James Jones has reiterated that he is confident the Suns will retain Ayton’s services.
Ayton finished the season averaging 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
