Danny Green has agreed to a four-year, $45 million deal with the Spurs. Green could have commanded more money on the open market, but opted to return and play for a Championship.
With Kawhi Leonard locked in for a max extension and Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili set to take team-friendly discounts, the Spurs are considered frontrunners in the LaMarcus Aldridge sweepstakes.
Per the AP:
Danny Green isn’t going anywhere.
A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Green has agreed to terms with the San Antonio Spurs on a four-year contract worth $45 million. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been officially announced. Per league rules, it cannot be signed until July 9.
Green was one of the most coveted shooters on the market. And the Spurs’ pursuit of free agent power forward LaMarcus Aldridge led some to believe that they would have to let Green leave for a big money deal with another team.
