The Houston Rockets brought 33-year-old Luc Mbah a Moute in for a workout, Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports, giving them an opportunity to gauge the potential benefits of a reunion.
Mbah a Moute hasn’t seen a taste of NBA action since October, 2018 when he injured his left knee as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers but he played 61 games – and started 15 of them – for the Rockets the year prior.
Mbah a Moute is a forward with length that could round out Houston’s rotation and could even see time at the five given the club’s recent pivot toward super small ball.
It is worth noting that the Rockets don’t currently have a roster spot so a subsequent move would have to be made if the team decides to sign their former forward to a new contract.
Lightly used veterans like Tyson Chandler and Thabo Sefolosha could be released without any financial commitment beyond this season. Recently acquired forward Bruno Caboclo’s deal expires after this year as well.
