The decision comes after Matthews and Martim impressed the Rockets as role players and are reportedly pieces that fit the Rockets’ long-term plan for a rebuild. Matthews has averaged 11.0 points and 3.2 rebounds, while Martin has averaged 8.9 points and 3.9 boards during the 2021-2022 season.
On Wednesday, the Rockets (17-49) are coming off a 139-130 overtime win over the Lakers. The Rockets will look to build on that big-time win against the Mavericks Friday night.
