REPORT: Bradley Beal Has Decided Playing Future, Won’t Reveal Decision Until Free Agency
According to Josh Robbins of The Athletic, Bradley Beal has already decided on what he’ll do about his future with the Washington Wizards but won’t reveal his offseason intention out of respect for his current contract.
Beal, who has a $36.4 million player option for the upcoming season, can decline in hopes of signing with another team or because he wishes to sign a new five-year, $246 million supermax contract with Washington.
While Beal has not revealed his offseason plan, he did tell Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks in early June that “I know what my decision will be based off of, and that’s gonna be where I feel like I can win. That’s going to be my decision. If I feel like I can win in D.C., that’s what I’m gonna do. I want people to respect that.”
The three-time NBA All-Star has spent his entire 10-year NBA career in Washington. One of the League’s premier scorers, he most recently averaged 23.2 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game in 40 games after undergoing season-ending surgery on his left wrist in February.
The Wizards briefly held the top record in the Eastern Conference last season before things turned for the worse. After Beal’s injury and a stretch of poor play, Washington went from a potential playoff contender to a lottery team. The Wizards currently have the 10th pick in the NBA Draft, which takes place Thursday at 8 p.m.
