Asik, formerly of the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets, played in 76 games for the Pelicans last season.
Per Yahoo! Sports:
Asik’s agent, B.J. Armstrong of Wasserman Media Group, was finalizing the deal points of an agreement with New Orleans management on Wednesday night.
Asik, who turns 29 on Saturday, solidifies the Pelicans’ frontline next to star forward Anthony Davis, who agreed to a $145 million contract extension early Wednesday. Asik averaged 7.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 26 minutes in 76 games last season for the Pelicans.
