After acquiring Norman Powell at the trade deadline last season, he immediately became Portland’s top target to retain in free agency. With the Blazers doing everything they can to keep a competitive team around Damian Lillard, re-signing Powell would be a necessity.
As first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Portland was able to make this happen, agreeing to a five-year, $90 million deal with the high-scoring guard.
During the 2020-21 season, Powell averaged 18.6 points while shooting 41.1 percent from beyond the arc. Still just 28 years old, he significantly raises the ceiling of the Blazers as they look to be a legit contender this season.
