The Dallas Mavericks made a huge splash earlier this month, resulting in a void in both the General Manager and head coach spots.
With the GM role needing to be filled first, the next coach of the Mavericks will come after that hiring.
According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, Dallas has already hired a search firm and plans to hire at least one external executive as they re-shape their front office. While it’s been speculated that Masai Ujiri and Danny Ainge could fill the general manager void, Stain reports that neither are being pursued by the Mavericks.
Additionally, Michael Finley immediately emerged as a candidate to be promoted to the head of basketball operations.
Owner Mark Cuban and newly appointed special advisor Dirk Nowitzki will be crucial in the buildout of this new-look front office and coaching staff in Dallas.
