Marcus Smart is one of the most important pieces of the Boston Celtics roster. At the end of January, he went down with a calf injury and the Celtics have struggled ever since.
Smart hasn’t played yet in the month of February, resulting in the Celtics going 5-7 this month. However, Boston will need to figure out a solution quickly, as Smart likely will not be back until next month.
As first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Smart will be rehabbing his left calf injury through the March 5-10 All-Star Break with hopes of returning for the start of the season’s second half.
On the season, Smart is averaging 13.1 points, 6.1 assists and 1.8 steals per contest. He’s the glue guy for the Celtics and is arguably their best defender. Currently sitting at 15-15, good for sixth in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics will look forward to his return.
