LeBron didn’t do his customary pregame chalk toss prior to Game 1 against Boston, citing an even sharper focus going into this series as the reason for (temporarily?) halting the routine. The Miami Herald reports: “James’ fans are used to watching him toss chalk into the air before each game. It’s an iconic image James has used throughout the years after his Nike ‘Witness’ advertising campaign. James throws the chalk in the air … before every game … without fail. James didn’t toss his chalk into the air Sunday. Instead, he casually shook some on his hands and dusted the excess onto the ground. Ask why he broke from his normal pregame routine, James said he was focusing more on the series.”
