The Los Angeles Lakers intend to sign Markieff Morris as he clears waivers, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Morris was on waivers since his release from the Detroit Pistons through today at 5 pm EST.
Morris will join a Lakers team intent on shoring up its current roster with as much depth as possible heading into the postseason. Morris could serve as a valuable body to throw at players like Kawhi Leonard as they compete for a title.
The Lakers will bring Morris aboard with the $1.8M disabled player exception they were granted when DeMarcus Cousins went down with his knee injury.
The 30-year-old forward averaged 11.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in 44 contests with the Pistons this season.
