Oklahoma’s Austin Reaves went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, but has taken full advantage of his opportunity after signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. After an impressive Summer League, he was signed to a two-way contract, set to split time between the NBA and the G League.
Now, as first reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Los Angeles is converting him to a standard multi-year deal. It will be a two-year deal with a team option in the second year.
During NBA Summer League, Reaves was perhaps the team’s best player, averaging 11.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
As the Lakers look to contend in the upcoming season, Reaves will be a part of the process as a full-time member of the team. The 6-foot-5 guard is mature after playing in four full college seasons and will look to make an immediate impact at the next level.
