An exhausted, undermanned Cleveland Cavaliers squad fell short in the NBA Finals last month, but they pushed the champion Golden State Warriors further than they had any business doing.
All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving went down in Game 1, breaking his left kneecap on a “freak play”, and he thinks the series’ outcome would have been different if he and star teammate Kevin Love had been able to play.
For what it’s worth, Cleveland is the odds-on favorite to win the championship in 2015-16.
Per The Big Podcast With Shaq:
“I’m more or less the voice of reason. I’m always gonna be a straight shooter with everyone and give them my honest opinion,” Irving said.
“Obviously, we had a great thing in Cleveland. We dealt with everything together. I felt like we would have definitely won an NBA championship if everyone was healthy. But almost doesn’t count.”
