Jimmy Butler Out 3-4 Weeks Due to Strained Knee

The Chicago Bulls announced Tuesday afternoon that All-Star guard Jimmy Butler will be sidelined for the next three-to-four weeks as he nurses a strained left knee.

Butler, 26, was hurt late last week in a road loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Bulls teammate Pau Gasol will take Butler’s All-Star spot this weekend.

From the press release:

Butler has begun rehabbing his injury and he will be allowed to engage in all activities as tolerated with the primary goal of maintaining his conditioning over the ensuing weeks.

As a result of this injury, Butler will not play in the NBA All-Star Game this Sunday in Toronto.

Butler was selected as a reserve to the East squad by the Eastern Conference head coaches. He originally suffered the injury in the second quarter of Friday night’s game at Denver.
