James Wiseman Continues to Impress on Road Back to NBA

After being selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman has struggled to stay healthy. In fact, as his second NBA season winds down, he’s only played in 39 career games.

Currently recovering from a knee injury, Wiseman is playing in the G League for the Warriors’ Santa Cruz affiliate. Over the past couple of games, he has looked spectacular.

In a 110-107 win over the G League Ignite on Sunday, the 7-footer produced 19 points and 14 rebounds.

This came right after an 18-point performance earlier in the week. As the 20-year-old gets back to full strength, he could be a huge piece for the Warriors.

While most young players don’t get a ton of time in the postseason, Wiseman has the size that could be useful for Golden State in limited action. Last season, he averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game with the struggling Warriors.

This season upon his return, his role will look very different. However, he could still be another key piece in certain situations as the Warriors look to win a championship.
