The Miami Heat will welcome back veteran Goran Dragic, Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reports. Dragic will sign a two-year contract with a team option in 2021-22.
Shams Charania of The Athletic has since reported that the deal will be worth $37.4 million over the course of two seasons.
The deal rewards a solid franchise veteran while still giving the team flexibility to clear up cap space in a hurry ahead of 2021. Dragic’s heroics have long been appreciated by the team, most recently during an impressive playoff run in the bubble.
Dragic, at age 33, averaged 16.2 points per game in 2019-20. That was the last year of a five-year, $86 million deal he signed in the summer of 2015.
