Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have come a long, long way.
The Greek Freak led Milwaukee to its 15th win in a row Monday night, and pointed out that they only won 15 games total during his rookie year.
The NBA’s reigning MVP stuffed the stat sheet as usual, finishing with 32 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists in a 110-101 victory against the visiting Orlando Magic.
Per The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
“It’s good to play close games,” Antetokounmpo said. “You learn from that. You get used to being in close games and not always winning by 20, by 30.
“We still got the win. We grinded it out. We played defense. But I think the two days in between made us a little rusty.”
Winning 15 games in a row is especially sweet for [Kris] Middlton, Antetokounmpo and [Ersan] Ilyasova. They were all on the Bucks when they went 15-67 in the 2013-14 season. That team won its 15th game on April 11th that season.
“It’s amazing, I’m not going to lie,” Antetokounmpo said. “When I go back home, sit down and think about it, it’s amazing.
“My rookie year we won 15 games. Now we won 15 in a row. We can still extend it. But at the end of the day, the job’s not done. We got to keep playing hard. We got to keep playing together. We got to keep moving individually. Keep improving as a team. We got a long way to go.”
