If James Harden “put his mind to it,” he could score 100 points in a single game, according to DeMar DeRozan.
DeRozan, who obviously hopes the scoring record isn’t reached against the Spurs tonight, says Harden’s mind-boggling numbers aren’t shocking, having watched his friend get buckets since they were California kids.
Harden leads the NBA in scoring with an absurd 38.9 points a night.
Per The San Antonio Express-News:
“I’m pretty sure if he put his mind to it, he could score 100,” DeRozan said.
They were high school rivals and playground friends. Over time, DeRozan has watched Harden blossom into the NBA’s most feared scorer. He is not surprised at what his buddy has become.
“Even in college (at Arizona State), he led the nation is scoring for a while,” DeRozan said. “So for me it is not surprising.”
DeRozan might even be rooting for Harden to get there. Just not Tuesday.
“Nah, hell no,” DeRozan said. “He can do it some other time.”
