Last week, Pat Riley announced that Chris Bosh‘s “Heat career is probably over,” which was news to Bosh as he learned of the Heat’s decision just like everyone else—through the media.
In episode four of Bosh’s Uninterrupted series, the two-time NBA champ shared his feelings about his career with the Heat being over and admitted to being hurt by Riley’s words:
“I didn’t see my career in Miami ending like this, I didn’t get a call or a text or anything like that. I mean, it’s a business. We understand that. We always say those things. But if you say certain things to the person and you win championships and you have these moments, you don’t want to find things out through the media. It’s kind of tough. We say all these things, the commitment, brotherhood and all these things. And then, for whatever reason, you find out, or I find out like this. So, it hurts.”
Bosh also reiterated that his career is not over and he plans on playing again:
“I guess my career in Miami’s done. My career’s not done,” Bosh said. “There’s 29 other teams, it’s a whole league. One team does not make up the opinion of everything.”
According to ESPN, Bosh is under contract with the Heat until 2018-19 and is owed $76 million in guaranteed money. In February, Miami can start to try and remove Bosh from its salary cap since it will be a calendar year since he last played. After that, Bosh could become a free agent and seek out a team that will medically clear him to play.
