Swelling went down but still had soreness today so team being overly cautious.
The swelling in Williams’ knee went down according to Lopez, but he was still experiencing some soreness, leading to the Celtics deciding to sit Williams out of an abundance of caution.
Williams already missed Game 4 due to the same injury, and already missed two other games while he recovered from midseason knee surgery. The Time Lord is averaging 6.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game during Boston’s playoff run. During the regular season, he averaged 10.0 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
Boston is tied with Milwaukee 2-2 going into a pivotal Game 5 back in Beantown.
