Allan Houston Legacy Foundation Hosts Charity Poker Tournament

Earlier this month, Allan Houston and his foundation hosted its second annual charity poker tournament in New York City. The $250,000 raised will help support fatherhood and entrepreneurship programs. Many guests, including current Knicks players and past legends stopped by to show their support. See details from The Allan Houston Legacy Foundation below:

The stakes were high as hundreds of people came out to support the Allan Houston Legacy Foundation on December 3, 2013 for the Second Annual Charity Poker Tournament. More than 300 people were in attendance at e.s.p.a.c.e to play poker and raise funds to help support the programs that the Foundation hosts throughout the year. By the end of the evening, gross proceeds totaled approximately $250,000, raised through admission costs, poker tables and the auction. The “Bring Your Talents To South Beach” item, where two people get to fly on a private jet with Allan Houston to Miami, FL and attend the Knicks vs. Heat game, went for $35,000.

The monies raised during the event will directly benefit the programs that the Allan Houston Legacy Foundation supports throughout the year, including the Fatherhood Programs and Entrepreneurship Programs. The Foundation (www.allanhoustonfoundation.org) operates year-round programming in fatherhood and entrepreneurship, with the mission to facilitate individual and collective growth through initiatives that – 1) Restore a strong family unit, 2) Provide economic empowerment through entrepreneurship, 3) Encourage education and life skill development, and 4) Enhance spiritual growth.
