The 2014-’15 Los Angeles Lakers are historically awful (especially on the defensive end), and though he’s of course angry, Kobe Bryant isn’t quite ready to sound the alarm bells.
Bryant responded to a reporter’s silly question with bitter sarcasm Saturday night.
Kobe insists that the team is moving in the right direction, though it’s getting harder and harder to believe him.

The Lakers’ 127-104 defeat to the Golden State Warriors before 19,596 at Oracle Arena put this year’s team in the historical record books that will hardly lump with their championship runs. This marked the first time the Lakers opened a season losing their first four games since 1957. This also marked the fourth consecutive game the Lakers conceded more than 100 points.
“It doesn’t bother me at all. I’m festive and joyful,” Bryant said sarcastically. “I’m not happy about it. But there’s nothing you can do about it. Move on to the next one.”
Yet, the Lakers still stayed in contention partly because of Bryant’s heroics. After only shooting 3 of 10 in the first half, Bryant scored 15 of the Lakers’ 32 points in the third quarter. Bryant’s 9-of-14 clip entailed vintage highlights that included fadeaways over double teams. […] “I’m sure it’s not at the 40th-best player in the league,” Bryant said, referring to ESPN’s NBA player rankings. “The narrative is changing, I’m very pleased with that. It’s moving away from, ‘Can I be the player that I was’ to ‘What are we going to do with this team, how are we going to figure out how to win’? That is what the conversation should be about.”
