With his father serving as the assistant coach at Oregon State and his brother being a rising sophomore guard there, when Ethan Thompson revealed that he would be announcing his college decision on Monday evening–choosing between the Beavers, Stanford and Syracuse–him choosing to rock the black and orange seemed like the most probable and logical choice. After all, it would be hard to pass on playing for his father and alongside his brother in Pac-12. A 6-4 guard out of Bishop Montgomery in Torrance, CA. Thompson’s father, Stephen Sr., joined the Beavers’ coaching staff in 2014, while his brother, Stephen Jr, joined the program last year. In the end, the only surprising part about his recruitment was that other schools actually decided to pursue him despite the strong ties to Oregon State. There will be a top-60 national prospect in Corvallis next fall.
